Liverpool enter the race for AS Monaco’s 21-year-old French wonderkid Aurelien Tchouameni who is a target for rivals Chelsea and Manchester United.
According to Fichajes, Premier League giants Liverpool have entered the race for AS Monaco star Aurelien Tchouameni. The 21-year-old is making a real name for himself in Ligue 1. One of the best midfielders in the league today, his performances have not gone unnoticed.
Some of Europe’s top teams are now keeping tabs on the French international. Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, Juventus, AC Milan and Chelsea are all in the fray for Tchouameni’s signature. Liverpool, too have now thrown their hat into the ring and will aim to land the youngster for their own.
When fit, the Liverpool first XI is as good as any other team in the world. The side is, however, ageing and will need an influx of youth sooner rather than later. The trio of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Thiago Alcantara form arguably Liverpool’s best midfield three. Two of the three are 30 plus, and Klopp must start phasing out his veterans slowly yet steadily.
Having brought in Diogo Jota, Ibrahima Konate and having promoted Harvey Elliott, Liverpool are quietly adding young players to their ranks. The midfield has so far been ignored and could do well with a player who can develop into a dynamic presence for years to come.
A promising player, Tchouameni excels in defensive actions. Not only is he a colossus in the air, but he also isn’t hesitant to put in a tackle when needed. The Frenchman will add steel to the Liverpool midfield paving the way for their attacking players to hit opponents on the counter. His ability in the air will also complement both Konate and Virgil van Dijk’s aerial prowess. It should also hand the Reds an advantage when it comes to set pieces and winning aerial balls.
It is not just the Reds who are seeking reinforcements in midfield. Manchester United lack a dynamic defensive midfielder and could do with a player of Tchouameni’s talents. He will offer a better option compared to both Scott McTominay and Fred and will provide a base for the club’s attacking talents to flourish.
The same can be said of Chelsea who are building something special under Thomas Tuchel. N’Golo Kante is not getting any younger while Jorginho continues to be linked with a return to Italy. Adding Tchouameni into the mix will ensure the Blues have the position nailed down for the decade to come.
The fact that Tchouameni is already a full international for France is a testament to his potential as a footballer. The World Champions have a plethora of quality options to choose from, and it speaks highly of the 21-year-old’s ability to be included.
Whether it be Liverpool, Manchester or even Chelsea, Tchouameni appears to solve a major headache for three of England’s storied clubs. The 21-year-old has his whole career ahead of him and could evolve into a truly special player in the years to come. Where exactly that happens, remains to be seen.
