Liverpool and Manchester City are on red alert as Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman eyes move to England.
A recent report from Le10Sport has offered an update on the future of Kingsley Coman. It appears Bayern Munich are keen on extending his contract that expires in 2023, but they are failing to meet the winger’s exorbitant demands. The situation isn’t favouring the Bavarians at all and there is a growing belief that the player wants to leave the club.
Coman’s desire is to play football in England, which has put both Liverpool and Manchester City on red alert. His former clubs Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus are also interested in his services, but the player is indeed keen on moving to the Premier League, having already plied his trade in the Bundesliga, Serie A and Ligue 1.
In fact, the Frenchman is primarily known for his winning mentality, having secured titles in all three leagues. With more than 200 competitive appearances for Bayern, he is also one of the most experienced players available in his age group, and after winning six successive Bundesliga titles, he has now set his sights on the Premier League.
Manchester City is the default option as the player is quite familiar with Pep Guardiola. He was the one that brought him to Bayern, and the Calatan mastermind could certainly welcome him at Etihad, despite recently securing the services of Jack Grealish for a record fee this summer.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have been linked with a move for Coman for a long-time. He is one of Jurgen Klopp’s top candidates as the German looks to reinforce his wide attacking department after facing some criticism from fans after a stale transfer window that only saw them sign RB Leipzig’s Ibrahima Konate.
The Reds have retained an interest in Wolves’ Adama Traore, but Coman certainly represents fewer risks due to the player’s experience and pedigree at the highest level of football. His fitness issues, though, might be a cause for concern for the Merseyside giants, as the winger has missed chunks of game-time at Bayern due to his never-ending injury woes.
On that note, it will be interesting to see if Bayern Munich can use to their advantage and convince the player to lower his demands. But the chances are almost non-existent, especially with Jamal Musiala enjoying a rapid rise to prominence that might make Coman obsolete in the future.
