Lionel Messi is already in talks over his next career move with a switch to Major League Soccer franchise Inter Miami FC being touted.
According to an exclusive report from the Mirror, Paris Saint-Germain superstar Lionel Messi has held talks with David Beckham over a potential transfer to Major League Soccer outfit Inter Miami FC in the future.
It has been less than a month since Messi brought an end to his long and successful association with Barcelona. With the Catalans in no position to hand him a contract renewal, the 34-year-old ended up sealing a free transfer to PSG, where he has signed a two-year contract.
While he is yet to make his official debut for the French capital outfit, speculations about the next move in his career have already started doing the rounds. As per the aforementioned report, Messi has held talks with Beckham, who happens to be the owner of MLS outfit Inter Miami FC, about the possibility of ending his career there.
Beckham has his sights set on adding a superstar name to his squad in the near future and has his sights set on Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, who is said to be considering his options this summer, along with Messi as well.
In fact, things may have already been set in motion with regards to Messi as the report claims that talks have already been held between him and Beckham. It is further claimed that Messi had purchased as many as six luxury penthouses in Miami when he was visiting a few weeks ago, potentially planning for his next step after PSG.
David Beckham’s co-owner, Jorge Mas, had spoken to Miami Herald back in June about the club’s desires to recruit superstars like Lionel Messi. “I am optimistic Messi will play in an Inter Miami shirt because I think it will complete the legacy of the greatest player in our generation and will meet with the ambitions of the owners of Inter Miami to build a world-class team.
“David and I have been working really hard, we have aspirations of bringing the best players here and Messi is a generational player, arguably the best player of all time,” he had said.
This is not the first time that Messi has been linked with a move to Inter Miami. Reports last year claimed that the 34-year-old was planning to end his career with the South Florida-based franchise, with the latest speculations just fueling those rumours further. It remains to be seen if the six-time Ballon d’Or does make the switch to the United States in the future. For now, a new journey at PSG awaits.
