Chelsea forward Hakim Ziyech has reportedly emerged as a potential summer target for AC Milan and Juventus, who are monitoring his situation.
According to a report by Calciomercato Web, AC Milan and Juventus are keeping tabs on the situation of Hakim Ziyech at Chelsea. The Serie A duo could launch a move for the Chelsea forward in the summer transfer window if he continues to fall down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.
Hakim Ziyech joined Chelsea from Ajax last summer, arriving at Stamford Bridge following a fruitful and productive four-year stint with the Dutch giants. Ajax’s Player of the Year for each of the last three seasons, the expectations were unsurprisingly high from the 27-year-old when he joined the Blues.
However, a number of injuries have hampered his progress at the west London club, with Ziyech managing to start just 13 of the 32 games that Chelsea have played this season. While he has been impressive with the creative impetus he has provided, another issue seems to be causing quite a bit of uncertainty for the Moroccan international at the club.
The Thomas Tuchel era is underway at Chelsea and the new manager has altered the system of play at Stamford Bridge. This has meant that the competition for places has become more intense, with Ziyech at risk of losing his place in the side if he is not consistent. And, keeping a keen eye on such a situation are Serie A giants AC Milan and Juventus.
AC Milan are in a precarious situation over the future of Hakan Calhanoglu, who is currently in the final few months of his current deal with the Serie A leaders. While the Rossoneri are confident that the Turkish international will pen a renewal, Ziyech’s addition could still be a well advised decision, considering Brahim Diaz is not a certainty to join the club permanently in the summer.
In addition, the Chelsea superstar would ideally be an upgrade over Alexis Saelemaekers and Samu Castillejo in the right wing berth, therefore making him a viable target. As for Juventus, their interest is more straightforward, owing to the uncertain futures of Federico Bernardeschi and Douglas Costa. If the duo end up leaving, Ziyech would be a top class replacement.
As things stand, though, AC Milan and Juventus are simply keeping tabs on Ziyech’s situation at Chelsea and they could launch the offensive in the summer if he falls down the pecking order. Till then, Ziyech would hope to become a regular feature again for Chelsea, who are experiencing the famous new manager bounce under Tuchel currently.
