Feyenoord’s rising star Marcos Senesi has emerged as the latest target for Real Madrid, with the defender’s €35 million release clause unlikely to be a problem.
According to TYC Sports, Marcos Senesi has become the latest player to be linked with a move to Real Madrid. The former European champions are keen on bolstering their defensive options as they brace themselves for a potential squad overhaul under Zinedine Zidane in the summer.
As a result, Los Blancos have set their sights on Senesi. The Feyenoord centre-back has impressed the onlookers with his performances in the Eredivisie this season. They could face further competition from fellow European clubs like AC Milan, Napoli and Atalanta, although Feyenoord have appeared reluctant to offload their defensive asset in the January transfer window.
The Dutch outfit is even looking to increase Senesi’s current release clause of €35 million to €50 million and extend his contract until 2025 in an effort to fend off interest in him. Unfortunately for them, finances are unlikely to be an issue, at least for Real Madrid, in their pursuit of the centre-back.

It appears the Spanish giants are determined to find a long-term replacement for Sergio Ramos, who is facing an uncertain future at the club. The veteran defender has struggled to work out a contract extension with the Merengues, with a host of European giants, including Manchester United, reportedly waiting in the wings to secure his services in the summer.
Ramos’s potential departure could create a massive void in the Real Madrid defensive unit, giving Senesi the ideal opportunity to establish himself as a key player for Los Blancos. However, it has also been suggested that Real Madrid are set to sign David Alaba, although with Eder Militao also facing an uncertain future in the Spanish capital, a couple of spots could be opening up at the back.
From a tactical perspective, the Argentine’s signing could make perfect sense given his brilliant positioning sense, combined with his tendency to step out of his line. There are certain areas where the defender certainly needs to improve upon, including his over-aggression, at times, but Senesi’s style of play strongly resembles that of Ramos.
In addition to his defensive prowess, the Feyenoord star is quite efficient on the ball and is capable of breaking down the lines of the opposition with his laser passes – making him an ideal partner for Raphael Varane. And for a fee of just €35 million, potentially rising up to €50 million, Senesi could indeed prove to be a bargain for Real Madrid.
