Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United have all reportedly set their sights on Sebastian Walukiewicz, who recently signed a new deal with Cagliari.
According to a report by Corriere dello Sport, Sebastian Walukiewicz is the subject of interest from three of Premier League’s biggest clubs. Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United are all closely monitoring the 20-year-old Polish defender over a possible move in the future.
Walukiewicz is a player who has been highly rated for years now. The 20-year-old, though, has become more of a household name since joining Cagliari from Pogon Szczecin in January 2019. The youngster made his debut for the Serie A outfit midway through last season and only it was only in the second half of the 2019/20 campaign that he established a foothold in the first-team setup.
The 20-year-old, though, has not looked back since the turn of the year and is now a mainstay at the back for Cagliari. In fact, such has been the player’s impact that Cagliari have already tied him down to a new long-term deal. His progress, though, has alerted several top clubs, including Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United.

Chelsea invested heavily in their squad this past summer and that included their defence as well. But, for one reason or another, the Blues are still being linked with a plethora of centre-backs. It has been suggested that Antonio Rudiger and Fikayo Tomori are on their way out of the club, with Chelsea open to offers for the duo.
With Thiago Silva at the twilight of his career, it could be the case that an opening will be created at the heart of the Chelsea defence. For Liverpool, on the other hand, the situation is more grim following the long-term injuries suffered by Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk. The duo’s absence has left Jurgen Klopp with Joel Matip as the only other recognised centre-back at his disposal.
With Matip himself sustaining several injuries in the past year or so, it is prudent for Liverpool to invest in a long-term solution for the heart of their defence, having not replaced Dejan Lovren with a summer signing. To that end, Liverpool have been linked with a number of central defenders, including Ibrahima Konate.
Meanwhile, Manchester United have been in search of a centre-back for some time, with Victor Lindelof blowing hot and cold in the past year. Eric Bailly’s injury woes have made him an unreliable figure while Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo are surplus to requirements at Manchester United.
As a result, Manchester United are also believed to be in the market for a central defender, with Ben White, who is also a target for Chelsea, among those on their radar. The report claims that United, Chelsea and Liverpool are all monitoring Walukiewicz, but his recent renewal with Cagliari could put a spanner in their works.
As per Corriere dello Sport, a January move is out of question, although it is not mentioned whether there could be a chance for any of these clubs to sign him in the summer. For now, it appears as if Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United have Sebastian Walukiewicz in their sights and it will be interesting to see if they make a move for the 20-year-old soon.
