Juventus are reportedly looking to sign Jorginho as part of a player-plus-cash deal that will see Miralem Pjanic join Chelsea this summer.
According to a report by The Sun, Maurizio Sarri is keen on a reunion with Jorginho in the summer transfer window. To that end, Juventus are hoping to lure Chelsea to part ways with the Italian international, in a deal that will see them snap up Miralem Pjanic.
Jorginho joined Chelsea from Napoli in the summer of 2018, following Maurizio Sarri to Stamford Bridge. The 28-year-old struggled to settle in straightaway, enduring a difficult first season at the West London club, although he did end that campaign strongly.
Upon the departure of Sarri and the subsequent arrival of Frank Lampard, though, Jorginho has been transformed, becoming an influential member of the Chelsea first-team setup while also being promoted to the role of being the club’s vice-captain. However, former manager Sarri still yearns to be reunited with the 28-year-old.
At Juventus, Sarri currently has Miralem Pjanic reprising the role Jorginho did at Napoli and Chelsea. While the Bosnian international has been a solid customer for the Bianconeri, it has been reported that a summer move away from the Allianz Stadium beckons him, with one of his suitors coincidentally being Chelsea.
Juventus are hoping to strike a deal with Chelsea that would see Pjanic and Jorginho go the opposite ways. The report that illustrated that the Blues are interested in Pjanic also suggested that the 29-year-old could soon be surplus to requirements at Juventus.
On the other hand, Sarri is looking to reunite with former charge Jorginho and the familiarity of the duo with each other could pave the way for a smooth transition. As for Chelsea, Pjanic would be a like-for-like replacement for Jorginho and with the player being at the peak of his powers, the Blues could enjoy the best years of his career.
A player-plus-cash deal might, therefore, be a tempting offer, although it will be interesting to see if Lampard is open to the idea of parting ways with someone he considers one of the most important players in his squad. For now, it looks like Juventus are keen on swooping Jorginho away from Stamford Bridge this summer, with Pjanic going the other way.
