Manchester United target and England international Jadon Sancho has hinted at a potential return to the Premier League in the future.
As reported by the Daily Mirror, Borussia Dortmund sensation Jadon Sancho has admitted that he “wouldn’t mind” returning to England, amid serious interest from Premier League heavyweights Manchester United.
Since leaving the English shores for German giants Borussia Dortmund, Sancho’s star has been on a steep rise. The teenage winger has established himself as one of the most exciting young talents in the game. Till date, the 19-year-old has featured 60 times for Dortmund, bagging 17 goals and setting up 27 more.
Sancho has made an excellent start to the 2019-20 campaign, already bagging 3 goals and 4 assists from 5 matches across all competitions, helping Dortmund to the DFB Supercup triumph against Bayern Munich. The teenager has also become a regular for Gareth Southgate’s England national team as well, making six appearances till date.
Sancho’s rise to prominence has seen him attract serious interest from a number of clubs, with Manchester United being at the forefront of it. The Red Devils’ manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly a huge admirer of the 19-year-old and was keen on recruiting him in the summer transfer window.
However, Borussia Dortmund made it very clear that there was no way they would be offloading their priced asset, putting an end to Manchester United’s hopes of signing him. But, given the persisting problems in their attacking department, the 20-time English champions have made it their top priority to sign Sancho in the next summer window.
And now, Sancho has left the door open to a move to Manchester United, claiming that he wouldn’t mind a return to England. Addressing the transfer speculation surrounding him, prior to England’s Euro 2020 qualifiers with Bulgaria and Kosovo, the former Manchester City academy man said:
“I don’t really try to take notice of all the media. I just try to stay focused on my game. Obviously being in Germany has taken off the pressure of the media and I think that’s really helping me a lot and keeping me focused.”
And when quizzed if he would be open to returning to England, the six-time capped England international added: “I can’t tell the future but I wouldn’t mind. La Liga I wouldn’t mind also, but we don’t know yet. I am just happy that I’m playing and that’s the main thing. I’m just helping my team and learning every day when I’m on the pitch.”
Someone of Sancho’s calibre and potential would exactly be the kind of signing that Manchester United need to address their problems in the attacking department. However, it remains to be seen if the Red Devils are able to sign the teenager in the next summer window.
