Transfer News: Ghanaian youngster Nana Opoku Ampomah issues come-and-get-me-plea to Arsenal

22-year-old Ghanaian attacker Nana Opoku Ampomah has revealed that he dreams of playing for Premier League heavyweights Arsenal.

Young Ghana forward Nana Opoku Ampomah has issued a come-and-get-me plea to Arsenal, claiming that his “dream” is to play for the North London outfit.

The 22-year-old plies his trade in the Belgian Jupiler League for Waasland-Beveren, having joined the club a couple of years ago. So far in his time with the club, Ampomah has racked up 67 appearances scoring 16 goals and setting up 5 more in the process.

The 2018-19 campaign has started on a strong note for the Ghanaian winger, as he has already found the back of the net on five occasions, while assisting one more in just nine appearances in the Belgian top flight.

Speaking to SportsworldGhana.com during the international break, Ampomah revealed that playing for Arsenal would be a dream come true, although he also claimed that he would be open to donning the colours of the Gunners’ rivals Manchester United and Chelsea.

“You can dream to play for Chelsea, Manchester United or Arsenal but then if they don’t come for you your dreams never comes true but we will see, I just have to work hard, focus on the game and we will see where I can get to.”

“But I think I like Arsenal more because I like their style of playing. It’s one of the teams I really liked growing up as a child so really like Arsenal. It will be a dream come true to play for Arsenal,” Ampomah said in the interview.

The three-time capped Ghanaian international is mostly used on the left flank, but can also play on the right wing and has often been deployed as an auxiliary striker as well. Known for his pace, Ampomah causes opposition full-backs problems by cutting in from the flank onto his stronger right foot and putting to use his dribbling abilities.

In his short professional career, the 22-year-old has shown good promise, but a move to Arsenal might be a little too far-fetched at the moment. The North Londoners are very well-stocked in the attacking department, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette in fine form, while Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Alex Iwobi and Danny Welbeck make up the supporting cast.

However, an out and out winger is something that Unai Emery’s squad does lack. The Gunners were recently linked with a move for Ampomah’s fellow African starlet Ismaila Sarr. However, if the 22-year-old Ghanaian starlet keeps his head down and manages to build on his strong start to the season, it might not be too long before big clubs, and perhaps Arsenal, come knocking on his door.
