Transfer News: Manchester City and Real Madrid submit record €130 million bid to land Kylian Mbappe

Manchester City and Real Madrid have reportedly both submitted mammoth bids of €130 million to land AS Monaco sensation Kylian Mbappe.

French publication Telefoot are claiming that AS Monaco have received formal bids in the region of €130 million for Kylian Mbappe. Manchester City and Real Madrid have both been reported to have offered the aforementioned amount, which will eclipse Paul Pogba’s transfer to become the most expensive transfer in footballing history.

Kylian Mbappe is the hottest property in world football at the present moment. The sensation has not just enjoyed a great couple of seasons but has also led his team upfront to their first Ligue 1 title this season in over a decade, after 16 years precisely, along with a great semi-final run in the Champions League.

On the way, the 18-year-old has just blazed through almost every opposition, 26 goals and 14 assists in all competitions combined. However, it is his performance and on-field maturity that has validated his wonderkid potential even further.

While several teams have been linked with the player, two teams have been reported to have submitted record bids of €130 million – one of them being Manchester City – the team Mbappe and his teammates knocked out of the Champions League this season on their way to the semi-finals.

Mbappe’s teammate Bernardo Silva has already joined Guardiola’s project at Etihad and Benjamin Mendy is widely expected to follow suit, along with Benfica goalkeeper Ederson Moraes – also in a record money move for a goalkeeper.

City have Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero up top while Kelechi Iheanacho looks set to join West Ham after being rigorously linked with the Hammers recently. Mbappe’s arrival is sure to mean the departure of Aguero, with the player likely to fall down the pecking order at Etihad – a prospect the Argentine will not like to be a part of.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, could prove to be the ideal place for Mbappe. Alvaro Morata looks set to join AC Milan and while Karim Benzema might stay at Santiago Bernabeu, Florentino Perez is looking to add a striker to the setup, which can provide competition to or be the first-choice over the cultured Frenchman.

Los Blancos need to make a statement in the transfer market after a lackluster couple of windows and securing the services of Mbappe in a world record move to get their name back to the top of the amount of transfer fee churned out in a single transfer will be Perez’s mission for the summer.

AS Monaco did win the league title this season but it looks like their prized jewels are being auctioned one by one. And Mbappe could soon join Bernardo Silva as another scalp of Monaco’s wondrous season.
