Manchester United have reportedly joined Real Madrid and Liverpool among several other high-profile clubs in the pursuit of Napoli superstar Piotr Zielinski
According to a TransferMarketWeb report, Manchester United are the latest club to express their interest in Napoli superstar Piotr Zielinski. The player was already tailed by the likes of Real Madrid, Liverpool, Arsenal, Bayern Munich and more. And it seems the Red Devils have joined the list.
Piotr Zielinski has really blossomed into one of the most enticing players to watch, not just in terms of Serie A but the footballing world in general. The former Udinese man has had a crackling first season at Napoli and has constantly been the subject of widespread interest from other top European clubs.
This season has really elevated Zielinski to even greater heights, with the 23-year-old featuring in all but two of Napoli’s Serie A campaign, with a return of 5 goals and 7 assists to show for his efforts. However, the numbers do not present the overall picture, with the Polish international dominating the midfield for his side.

The midfield general is being tailed by Liverpool for a while now, with Jurgen Klopp looking to consolidate his midfield. Zielinski, with his vision and command, will be a welcome addition at Anfield and would surely improve the club, especially now that the Reds have qualified for the Champions League next campaign.
However, of late, a new suitor emerged, in the form of Real Madrid. It looks like Los Blancos may be due for a squad shuffle in the summer and the 23-year-old could be just the man to partner the likes of Modric and Kroos in the midfield three.
Real Madrid have already secured the La Liga title and are in the final of the UEFA Champions League, where they face Juventus. The player could be tempted to move to the Spanish capital, both in terms of the stature of the club and the present form.
Zidane had a chance of taking a closer look at Zielinski when the two sides faced each other in the Champions League in the round-of-16 knockout phase. And it seems the manager has been impressed by the player and are set to move for the club in the summer.
However, Manchester United have now joined the race as well. The disappointing season saw the club finish sixth in the league. But, their campaign can end on a somewhat positive note if they manage to overcome Ajax in the fianl of the UEFA Europa League, which would see them secure Champions League football for the upcoming campaign.
And Jose Mourinho is eyeing heavy changes in personnel at Old Trafford with the view of challenging for the title next season. The Portuguese’s main concern would be an able replacement for Michael Carrick and Zielinski, with his calming and commanding presence, could be a viable player to replace the veteran.
Zielinski, at 23, would represent a long-term addition and the player already having experienced Champions League football, could aid United’s charge in the elite competition, if they do manage to secure a spot.
Zielinski, though, is unlikely to move to United without Champions League football as it would represent a downgrade from the current opportunities available at Napoli, football-wise. Hence, it all depends on the club’s ability to secure Champions League football, which could be a huge factor in Zielinski’s decision.
