Transfer Rumour: Liverpool and Manchester United among others interested in Bury super-duo Jacob Bedeau and Callum Styles

Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City are all interested in Bury FC’s wonderkids Jacob Bedeau and Callum Styles

ESPN are claiming that, as per the information received from sources close to League One outfit Bury FC, Liverpool and Manchester United are among a host of top Premier League clubs interested in their promising young duo, Jacob Bedeau and Callum Styles. The report has also named Everton and Manchester City as other suitors for the two young guns.

Jacob Bedeau is a 17-year-old English centre-back who has come through the ranks at Bury FC and has successfully managed to break into the first-team setup at the League One outfit. The defender has started the last six league games for his side and has impressed in his outings, keeping one clean sheet in the process.

Callum Styles is a 16-year-old midfielder of English origin who made his way into history books when he became the first person born in the 21st century to feature in the Football League, only to be embroiled in controversy later on as Bury were docked three points, after it was revealed that Styles was given his debut without being properly registered.

However, this season, Styles, like Bedeau, has also managed to successfully break into the first-team fold at Gigg Lane, making four league appearances for Bury this season, being deployed both as a central midfielder and in the attacking midfield as well.

Bury have produced many exciting prospects in the recent past that have been snapped up by Premier League clubs, like Emeka Obi, who signed for Liverpool and Matthew Foulds, who joined Liverpool’s local rivals Everton. And, the highly rated duo could be the next in line for a promotion up to the Premier League.

The likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Everton are interested in both Bedeau and Styles, both of whom are regarded by Bury as two of the best prospects to emerge from their academy in the recent times.

All these Premier League outfits reportedly had scouts in attendance to watch the duo as Bury lost 3-1 to league leaders, Sheffield United.

Bury are precariously close to the relegation places in League One and need all the help they can get. Add to this the prospect of playing regular first-team football, the duo may decide to stay for the season and help their side beat the drop and achieve a respectable position before deciding to leave.

Alternatively, one or more of the top clubs may come in with the offer of agreeing a deal for the duo that involves a loan-back clause, which could serve both the purposes.

Whatever be the case, one thing looks certain. Bury are unlikely to be able to keep Bedeau and Styles on their books with such heavy interest, and the duo look set for a move to one of the biggies of English football.
