Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku wants Chelsea return

According to reports, Everton and Belgium star Romelu Lukaku wants to move back to former club Chelsea in the summer.

The big Evertonian is wanted by a number of clubs which include Manchester United and PSG, but Chelsea were favourites for his signature and sources have told ESPN FC that he wishes to move back to his former employers.

According to the report, Lukaku wants to move to a bigger club in order to move further in his career. The Belgium international was sold to Everton in 2014 after three years as a Chelsea player. 2 of those years were spent out on loan with West Bromwich Albion and Everton before the Toffees decided to make the move permanent for a reported £28 million fee. He would go on to score over 60 goals in just under 130 games for the Merseyside outfit.

Lukaku’s fine individual performances weren’t able to help Everton to a top half finish, with the Toffees finishing 11th in the previous campaign and 12th this year. The report further states that the Belgian wants to live his dream of playing at Chelsea.

Romelu Returns?

With the future of Diego Costa and Alexander Pato uncertain, Chelsea are looking to revamp their attacking lineup. Falcao is set to leave and Bertrand Traore is too young to shoulder the responsibility to leading the Chelsea attack. Chelsea have been linked with moves for Morata and Cavani, but Lukaku is proven Premier League striker, scoring over 15 goals in each season since 2012.

Chelsea will not be able to offer European football for next season, but the Blues’ will certainly see this season as a one off and will be back to challenge the top teams for the title and domestic trophies for next season. The lure of a new era of success under Conte and the chance to show his former club what they missed out on, might tempt the striker to move back to London.
