Liverpool FC have confirmed the signing of Roberto Firmino.
The Reds completed the deal to bring Roberto Firmino to Anfield this summer.
A statement on the club’s official website read: . Liverpool Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Roberto Firmino from Hoffenheim, subject to a medical which will take place immediately following the player’s participation in Copa America 2015 for Brazil. The 23-year-old has agreed a long-term contract with the club.
Firmino is currently playing for Brazil in the Copa America. He has scored 49 times in 153 appearances for Hoffenheim, and scored the winner for Brazil in their 2-1 Copa America victory over Venezuela on Sunday.
He can play anywhere in the forward line a on the wings, behind a striker and as a striker himself. His addition will give Brendan Rodgers a big boost as he can even carry the striker duty till the time Daniel Sturridge is out with his injury.
Liverpool needed a signing of this calibre last summer after Luis Suarez was shipped off to Barcelona. A season too late, Firminoa s potential signing for the Reds could have a very positive effect for them. Most importantly, it will come as a statement of intent and ambition from the owners who would have got a player who would add immense quality to the first team immediately.
