Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann is open to a summer move to Chelsea despite a stellar start to his career with the Spanish champions.
Antoine Griezmann joined Atletico Madrid from Real Sociedad last season for a reported fee of a 30 million. The France international then went on to score 22 league goals for the club, making himself the third highest-scorer in La Liga behind Ronaldo and Messi. With just three more games remaining in the season for Atletico, rumours about the star mana s departure from the club are already doing the rounds.
It is widely believed that recently crowned Premier League champions, Chelsea, are keen on the forward and plan to make a move for him this summer. According to The Telegraph, Griezmann is also open to the move and is interested in finding out how serious the London-based club is about signing him.
Griezmanna s current contract with last yeara s Spanish champions includes a buy-out clause worth A?43 million. However, after his stellar performances in the debut season itself, Atletico are keen on re-negotiating the playera s contract and increasing his buy-out clause. But Griezmann is taking his time to make his decision and is ready to consider Chelseaa s interest.
Last season, Chelsea signed Diego Costa, Felipe Luis from Atletico and Thibaut Courtois returned to the club after a three-season loan spell with the Spanish champions. Considering the friendly relations between the two clubs, Chelsea will have negligible problems if they decide to sign the Frenchman. Also, A?43 million is not a big sum for a club like Chelsea and they wona t think twice to spend that amount of money on a player as talented as Griezmann.
