Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is considering making a move for Arsenal full-back Myles Lewis-Skelly.
According to a report from Fichajes, Real Madrid could end up making a move for out-of-favour Arsenal full-back Myles Lewis-Skelly, as their president Florentino Perez contemplates bringing him to the Bernabeu. His versatility is one of the major reasons why Los Blancos are after him.
Lewis-Skelly has come up the ranks at the North London club. He got promoted to their first team in the summer of 2024 and hasn’t looked back since. In his debut campaign, he was involved in 39 matches and even contributed towards three goals.
He racked up over 2,200 first-team minutes. The 19-year-old was hoping to have a more prominent role after having impressed last season. However, things haven’t gone according to plan for him. While he has been involved in 28 matches, Lewis-Skelly has racked up fewer than 1,400 minutes.
Lewis-Skelly looks set to leave Arsenal
He is not pleased with the limited game time he has had, and the teenager has already started considering making a move away from the North London club. Ideally, Arsenal wouldn’t want to sell such an exciting young talent, who can feature as a left-back as well as in midfield, but they need to raise funds to balance their books.
As a result, they would be open to offers this summer. Since he is a homegrown player, funds raised from his departure will be considered pure profit on the books. The Gunners are looking to raise €100 million by offloading Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri this summer.
Real Madrid are plotting a raid on Arsenal
While the exact fee is not certain yet, it will certainly be a substantial figure for a teenager. Real Madrid have emerged as a potential destination for the 19-year-old. Los Blancos have been monitoring him, and they are keeping a close eye on his situation.
The Spanish giants are gearing up for an overhaul on the left flank, as Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia are expected to be sold. They want to sign the Arsenal graduate to help replace them and provide competition to Alvaro Carreras.
They are looking at him as someone who can bolster their backline both in the short and the long run. He can provide defensive solidity and is exceptional going forward. Since he is only 19, Florentino Perez is seriously considering investing in him.
