Valentin Barco will sign six-year deal when he joins Chelsea

Chelsea have reportedly agreed a long-term deal with Valentin Barco ahead of his move to Stamford Bridge this summer.

When RC Strasbourg signed Valentin Barco, it was already pretty much certain that the Argentine midfielder would play for sister club Chelsea somewhere down the line. However, not many expected this move to come so soon.

Barco has already given the green light to the move to Stamford Bridge, and according to a report from TEAMtalk, the Argentine international is set to sign a six-year deal when he joins the London club in the summer.

Following an impressive rise at Boca Juniors, Valentin Barco made the move to Brighton in the summer of 2024. Unfortunately, things didn’t really work out for him at the club. Despite his struggles, the BlueCo, who had been keeping tabs on the 21-year-old, decided to sign him.

They went ahead and secured his services on loan for RC Strasbourg at the start of 2025. The move was then made permanent in the summer. Barco has gone on to establish himself as a key figure for the Ligue 1 club, and his consistent performances have impressed Chelsea.

Chelsea have snapped up Barco from sister club

The Blues want to have Valentin Barco in their ranks ahead of next season. Having worked with him at the Ligue 1 club, Liam Rosenior is certain that he is ready to be a part of his first-team plans at Stamford Bridge. The Chelsea head coach has played a big part in convincing the youngster.

While Barco has been used as a left-back on quite a few occasions in the recent past, Chelsea are looking at him as a midfielder. Barco was keen on returning to the Premier League; as a result, he quickly gave the green light to the move. Negotiations with the French outfit were never going to be a problem, as both clubs are owned by BlueCo.

The Blues have successfully persuaded the Argentine international, who is now set to sign a new six-year deal at the London club. The move will also benefit Brighton & Hove Albion, who negotiated a decent sell-on clause while offloading the youngster.
