Juventus are reportedly ahead of Premier League teams in the race to sign Manchester United ace Manuel Ugarte.
According to Caught Offside, Juventus are positioning themselves in the lead for Manuel Ugarte ahead of some of the Premier League sides interested in the midfielder. Manchester United have set a €40 million asking price for the Uruguayan, with Aston Villa and Newcastle United also thought to be in the mix.
Manuel Ugarte’s time at Manchester United has hit rock bottom, as the midfielder is no longer considered a key part of the club’s plans. Having arrived in a big-money move from PSG when Erik ten Hag was in charge at Old Trafford, the midfielder’s stocks have fallen off considerably, as he seems to be permanently resigned to the bench under interim manager Michael Carrick.
The club reportedly blocked a January exit for the midfielder, who was eager to find a new challenge in a bid to play regularly ahead of the World Cup. Manchester United are now working to sell the Uruguayan as part of their midfield reshuffle, as they are targeting a host of big-name signings ahead of the summer.
Even one new midfield arrival would spell the end for Ugarte at the club, although the 24-year-old has plenty of suitors in the mix. Teams like Galatasaray and Ajax are mentioned in the race, while Aston Villa and Newcastle United are also interested.
The latter duo are eager to bring in a new midfielder in the summer and could view Ugarte as an ideal addition, albeit perhaps not as a starter. Manchester United have reportedly set an asking price of €40 million for the 24-year-old Uruguayan, which does represent a loss of sorts on their initial investment.
Juventus leading the Manuel Ugarte race?
Juventus are indeed interested, and their Sporting Director, Marco Ottolini, has watched him in action during the international break. There were suggestions that the Turin giants would seek a loan move, although Manchester United might prefer an outright sale, as the Bianconeri’s ability to pay as much as €40 million may depend on their Champions League qualification.
Juventus are currently seen as the leaders in the race for the 24-year-old Manchester United ace, who is destined to leave the club. Despite the interest from Aston Villa and Newcastle United, Ugarte is seemingly prioritising a new challenge where he has a prominent role that comes with regular minutes on the pitch.
