Inter Milan are ready to accelerate their pursuit of top goalkeeping target Guglielmo Vicario, with Tottenham likely to sell.
According to Calciomercato, Inter Milan are eager to accelerate their pursuit of Guglielmo Vicario ahead of the summer. The Tottenham goalkeeper is seen as the top target to replace Yann Sommer in the No. 1 role at the San Siro, with a €15-20 million valuation being mentioned.
Guglielmo Vicario has divided opinion within the Tottenham fanbase over the last few seasons, including the current one. Following a brilliant start to life in North London since his arrival from Empoli in 2023, there have been some error-prone performances in a Spurs shirt across the last 18 months.
Fans are certain the Lilywhites need someone different between the sticks, as Tottenham are currently languishing in a relegation battle. The North Londoners are already planning towards a monumental summer window if they ensure safety in May, which could see them bring in a new goalkeeper in place of Vicario.
Guglielmo Vicario has been of interest to Inter Milan since December, and they view the Italian shot-stopper as the priority choice to become their new No. 1. The Nerazzurri have 37-year-old veteran Yann Sommer in the position at the moment, and whilst they are eager to upgrade on the Swiss international, they are planning to keep him at San Siro.
Inter Milan are reportedly readying a contract offer to tempt Vicario to move to San Siro, as rumours since January have suggested the Spurs mainstay is keen on a return to Italy. The report suggests a valuation of €15-20 million for the Tottenham star, although it fails to confirm whether that is the range Spurs are eager to recoup in the market.
Are Inter Milan in pole position for Vicario?
Serie A title contenders Inter Milan are a force in Italy and are expected to keep challenging for the title for years to come. Moving to San Siro could be an excellent move for Guglielmo Vicario to further his career, amid doubts over his future at Spurs.
As for the fee, the €15-20 million price point mentioned in the report would suit Inter Milan and is well within their range, although Juventus were previously quoted around €30 million. Spurs are likely to demand more than the reported valuation of Vicario, which could make the chase an interesting one for Inter Milan moving ahead.
