Everton in transfer tussle to sign Flaco Lopez

Everton will reportedly look to sign 25-year-old Argentine striker Flaco Lopez from Palmeiras in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Sports Boom, Palmeiras centre-forward Flaco Lopez is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a striker ahead of the 2026/27 season. However, they will not be alone in the battle for the 25-year-old attacker’s signature, as he is also a target for Brentford.

The Bees have identified the South American striker as a possible long-term replacement for the in-demand Igor Thiago. Meanwhile, Palmeiras will only entertain offers if bids begin around €35 million, hoping to take the overall package to €40-45 million with performance-related bonuses.

Who is Flaco Lopez?

Jose Manuel Alberto Lopez, better known as Flaco Lopez, has made gradual progress since joining Palmeiras from CA Lanus in July 2022. Born in San Lorenzo, the 25-year-old spent his formative years in Argentina, passing through the academies at CA El Progreso (San Lorenzo), CA Saladas, and CA Independiente before graduating from the youth division at CA Lanus. However, he has risen in prominence since moving to Brazil.

Lopez has been impressive in the 2026 season, scoring nine goals and providing five assists in 19 appearances across all competitions thus far. Meanwhile, the Argentine striker’s exploits have piqued the attention of several well-known clubs. A move to the Premier League may be on the cards, with Everton among the prospective suitors vying for his signature.

Will Lopez move to the Premier League soon?

Everton’s interest in Flaco Lopez makes sense. The Toffees are combing the market for a striker, as Beto and Thierno Barry have not been consistent enough to give David Moyes the confidence that one of them can be the first-choice striker in a season with four competitions.

With Everton in contention to qualify for a European competition, they must plan to take the next step in their squad evolution. Signing a top-quality striker is thus a necessity for them, with several candidates, including Santiago Castro, emerging on their wishlist.

However, Flaco Lopez is also an appealing target, as he has shown significant improvement in his output in the first few months of the 2026 season. However, with Brentford also involved in the battle for the 25-year-old Argentine striker’s signature, the competition for the €35 million-rated striker’s services should be intense.
