Chelsea make contact to sign Goncalo Ramos

Chelsea have been in contact with Goncalo Ramos ahead of the summer, with Manchester United and Tottenham also in the mix.

According to Team Talk, Goncalo Ramos could be headed to the Premier League, with the striker contemplating his future at PSG. The Portuguese forward has been offered to the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham, although it is Chelsea who are reportedly making strides by initiating contact.

Goncalo Ramos has been an effective signing for PSG since his €80 million move from Benfica three years ago. In his first two seasons, he has hit double figures, particularly in Ligue 1, and seems to be on course to do that for a third time.

However, his role is rather defined due to the limitations in his game, as he is neither versatile enough like his fellow forwards at PSG, nor can he play beyond the No. 9 role. Hence, Luis Enrique has found a specific use for the 24-year-old striker, who has been played with irregularity and only starts in key parts of the season when the manager deems it necessary to rest his other key forwards.

Hence, Ramos is considering his future at PSG ahead of the summer as there is sufficient interest from Premier League teams. Aston Villa and Crystal Palace were keen back in January, although there were doubts about whether Ramos would have preferred to join those teams. In the present climate, however, he has reportedly been offered to the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham.

Tottenham are battling relegation, and if they are to have any chance of chasing the 24-year-old PSG forward, they must at least stay in the Premier League. Manchester United could also look at a competitive forward in the summer, but Ramos could carry a prohibitive asking price that may force them to look elsewhere.

Chelsea to Make Goncalo Ramos move?

Chelsea are the latest to enter the conversation for Ramos, as they have reportedly initiated contact with his camp over a potential summer move. The Blues could sell Liam Delap, who has been ineffective for large parts of the season since his summer arrival, with the 24-year-old PSG forward likely to be seen as a replacement of sorts for Delap.

Chelsea could be ready to invest again in the centre-forward position, as the potential availability of Ramos could pique their attention. Chelsea may need Champions League football, as well as guarantees for the Portuguese attacker over a prominent role, although the centre-forward position is currently being occupied by João Pedro, which does bring a new set of complications in the chase.
