Enzo Fernandez open to joining Real Madrid this summer

Enzo Fernandez might be open to joining Real Madrid in the summer amid comments over his future after a recent loss.

According to talkSPORT, Enzo Fernandez could be open to leaving Chelsea and possibly joining Real Madrid in the summer. The midfielder made some comments about his future, which have fuelled speculation, with the Spanish giants one of those seriously considering a move.

Chelsea are drowning in turmoil with every passing game, following back-to-back losses in the Premier League and a Champions League exit. There are doubts over the methods the ownership has employed in the market, while there is a loss of trust from the fans in the current manager, Liam Rosenior.

There are also doubts over the futures of key stars such as Enzo Fernandez, who was recently asked about his future multiple times in recent weeks. He said, “We’ll see after the World Cup. We’ve had zero talks as of now. Honestly, nothing yet with Real Madrid. Now I am focused on Chelsea and what’s left in the last few games this season.”

Real Madrid are interested in Fernandez, as they will search for a new midfielder to improve their squad. The prospect of signing someone like the Chelsea star will be an expensive operation, given the outlay the English club have invested since signing him from Benfica in January 2022. The Argentine has been key for the Blues over his stay here, and this season he has contributed to 18 goals and assists.

Chelsea are ready to fight to keep hold of Fernandez, as they are in a strong position owing to a contract until 2032. The midfielder may have to request a transfer to get a deal done, although the lack of commitment seen through his comments may suggest he could be open to leaving the club, especially if Real Madrid come calling.

Will Chelsea sell Enzo Fernandez?

Fernandez will be a difficult prospect for Real Madrid or any other suitor, although it will not be impossible. However, the cost of the operation will be something of a concern to interested clubs, while Chelsea’s stance will also be important.

Rosenior was asked about Fernandez’s future following the midfielder’s recent comments, with the Chelsea boss suggesting he is not worried about the Argentine’s situation. He said, “I had a great conversation with Enzo at length this morning at the training ground. Not just about the comments, but the future and how much we want to win the coming games.”

“I would say he made it really clear how happy he is here, how much he wants to win for the team, and how passionate he is about this football club. He also said the translation and emotion got misconstrued. He is completely committed to this football club.”
