Manchester United are plotting a raid on rivals Arsenal to sign their academy graduate Myles Lewis-Skelly.
While Manchester United are focused on finishing the season in the best possible way and securing Champions League football, they have already started planning for the upcoming summer transfer window. The Red Devils seek defensive reinforcement. They want to bring in a new left-back and have prepared a shortlist that includes Arsenal teenage sensation, Myles Lewis-Skelly.
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Manchester United are plotting a surprise raid on their rivals to snap up the English youth international. They have started laying the groundwork to sign potential targets, and the Arsenal graduate is believed to be quite high on their wishlist.
Why Lewis-Skelly could leave Arsenal this summer?
Lewis-Skelly has come up the ranks at the North London club, and he was promoted to their first team in the summer of 2024. While he had quite an interesting debut campaign, the 19-year-old hasn’t had the same kind of role in Mikel Arteta’s team this season.
The lack of minutes has frustrated the youngster, who has been considering parting ways with the club this summer. While his contract runs until the summer of 2030 and the Gunners do rate him very highly, the player could push for an exit in search of a prominent role.
With Piero Hincapie and Riccardo Calafiori around, he is unlikely to get regular game time. He is considering his options, and the Gunners also look willing to cash in on him.
United are ready to push for Lewis-Skelly
Manchester United have emerged as a potential destination. They are aware of his situation and want to make the most out of it. The Red Devils are looking for someone who can compete with Luke Shaw for a place in the starting XI.
Given his injury track record, they also want a long-term replacement. With Tyrell Malacia likely to leave and Patrick Dorgu a very attack-minded option, Lewis-Skelly seems to be a perfect fit for United.
While Arsenal are ready to negotiate his departure, United still won’t find it easy to secure his services. They will have to battle other top clubs, and the Gunners might not want to sell to a direct rival.
