Filip Jorgensen and Robert Sanchez could be set for Chelsea exit

Chelsea’s underperforming goalkeeping duo, Filip Jorgensen and Robert Sanchez, could be sold this summer.

While Chelsea are focused on finishing the season in the best possible way, the Blues have already started planning for next season. They are making transfer plans to bolster their squad further, but before that, they will look to get some players off their books.

According to a report from Football Insider, Filip Jorgensen and Robert Sanchez have both failed to cement themselves as the number one choice in goal and could end up getting sold in the summer. The duo haven’t lived up to the expectations, and the Blues could look at Mike Penders to take over as their new number one.

Penders could be the new Chelsea number one

The Belgian shot-stopper is set to return to Stamford Bridge in the summer from his loan spell at RC Strasbourg. He has been quite impressive for the French club, and his return could lead to the departure of either Jorgensen or Sanchez.

Liam Rosenior, who took charge of the London club mid-season, was quite impressed with Penders during the first half of the season while he was still in charge of Strasbourg. He is now determined to hand the Belgian goalkeeper an opportunity to make the number one slot his own.

Jorgensen and Sanchez could be shown the exit door

He is expected to be given an extended run in the first team during the pre-season. While Rosenior is hoping the 20-year-old manages to establish himself in goal, he is also keen on ensuring that he doesn’t have three potential first-choice goalkeepers in his squad.

As a result, the London club are ready to part ways with Jorgensen or Sanchez. The former Brighton shot-stopper has been a constant feature in their XI for quite a few seasons now, but he is yet to convince the people at the club that he is the right man for the job.

The 28-year-old has been subject to heavy criticism over the years. While Jorgensen has massive potential, he hasn’t really made the most out of the opportunities he has had so far. With the duo struggling, the Blues could now look to sell them as Penders is set to have an extended run in the team next season.
