Barcelona eyeing summer move for Pedro Neto

Barcelona are eyeing a summer move for Pedro Neto from Chelsea, as Hansi Flick is keen to bring quality depth to the wide attacking areas.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Pedro Neto is a target for Barcelona ahead of the summer. The Catalan giants are aiming to bring in competition and quality depth in their wide attacking areas, with the Portugal international seen as an ideal candidate.

Pedro Neto has been in the news for all the wrong reasons owing to a few controversial performances for Chelsea against Arsenal and PSG, respectively. A red card against the former and pushing the ball-boy against the latter has landed the winger in hot water, but now, there is transfer speculation circling.

Barcelona were interested in Neto earlier, and now it appears they are ready to rekindle their pursuit of the Portuguese attacker ahead of the summer. Hansi Flick could seek quality cover and competition in the wide attacking areas, which could see the club target the Chelsea star as a potential option.

Neto, who signed from Wolves in a €60 million deal in 2024, has been a regular for the Blues, mainly due to his ability to play across the frontline. The versatile winger has been a key star for Chelsea, but the report states there might be a clause in his contract that could allow him a departure if a serious offer arrived.

Chelsea were unwilling to entertain offers in January, but should a club match the alleged clause, then things could be taken out of their hands. Barcelona could be an attractive destination for any player, let alone the £60 million attacker, which could open up the possibility of a summer exit.

Can Barcelona Sign Pedro Neto?

Barcelona can indeed sign Neto if they sort out their financial problems and make way for cash to flow into their transfer budget. Signing the €60 million attacker from Chelsea could be a bright idea, as he could compete with the likes of Raphinha, Lamine Yamal, and Marcus Rashford, with the latter now close to making his Barcelona loan move permanent.

Neto’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has a close relationship with Barcelona, which could further help the Catalans with this pursuit. As mentioned earlier, the financial aspects of the deal will prove crucial for the Spanish giants to tie up a deal, as Chelsea will demand a significant price to sell the Portuguese winger.
