Tottenham are planning on exploring the idea of bringing PSG keeper Lucas Chevalier in as a possible replacement for Guglielmo Vicario.
According to Media Foot, Tottenham are reportedly interested in a move for Lucas Chevalier in the summer. The French keeper has recently lost his place in the PSG side, which could open the doors for a summer exit, as Spurs are considering replacing Guglielmo Vicario.
There was plenty of drama on the pitch at Atlético Madrid as interim Tottenham manager Igor Tudor chose to make a surprise decision to drop Guglielmo Vicario for the barely-used Antonín Kinsky. The latter put in an error-prone display, which saw the hosts take a three-goal lead in the first quarter of the game, with two of the errors coming from the keeper.
Tudor substituted the distraught Kinsky in the 17th minute to bring on his No.1 Vicario, but the move has stirred the pot about the Italian’s future. The Spurs man already has interest from Inter Milan and Juventus ahead of the summer, and an exit from Tottenham appears to be on the cards.
Spurs are already looking at a few options to replace Vicario, which include Sunderland’s Robin Roefs, among others. Now, they are reportedly eyeing a move for Lucas Chevalier, PSG’s summer signing. The Parisians signed him from LOSC Lille to replace Gianluigi Donnarumma, who left for Manchester City.
He had interest from the Premier League back in the summer, but the chance to join PSG was too good to turn down. Having started as the undisputed No.1 under Luis Enrique, he has lost his place over the last few weeks to Matvey Safonov, the Russian international.
Tottenham to Chase Lucas Chevalier?
Chevalier is not close to regaining his No.1 spot from Safonov, which could lead to his exit from the club. With Tottenham now angling for a move, there could be other Premier League sides in the mix moving forward, as he could assess his options — particularly if PSG indicate their plans of signing a new keeper in the summer.
Meanwhile, Spurs are currently battling relegation, and their status in the top flight could alter their transfer plans going forward. Hence, any move for Chevalier or their other targets may depend on their ability to stay up, although they might angle for the signing of a new keeper should they manage to do so.
