Barcelona are set to enter the race for Julian Brandt and face the challenges of signing the German in light of big Premier League interest.
According to Fichajes, Barcelona are in the running for soon-to-be-free agent Julian Brandt ahead of the summer. Hansi Flick feels the Borussia Dortmund star is perfect for his tactical ideas and eyes him as a high-quality rotational player, but faces the challenge of signing him ahead of significant Premier League interest.
Julian Brandt has spent his entire career in the Bundesliga, playing for only two clubs: Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund. He has amassed 215 and 298 appearances for those clubs respectively across all competitions, and is now ready for a new challenge outside of Germany, as per the report.
Brandt has once again proved he is capable of operating at the highest level, with 10 goals and 3 assists for Dortmund this season. Niko Kovač values him highly and would have preferred to keep hold of him in the long term, but the German international may have made an internal decision to leave Germany.
He does not have any shortage of interest, as Aston Villa are one of those keen on signing the high-profile free agent ahead of the summer. Unai Emery’s side are always looking for deals that suit their pockets as well as those that increase the quality of the squad. The Birmingham giants are not alone from the Premier League, as Tottenham and Arsenal are also keen, as per the report.
Arsenal could look to add a profile such as Brandt that brings experience and uniqueness to their squad. However, he may not be a priority signing at the moment, as they have good players in that position. Tottenham, on the other hand, could angle a move as they eye a revamp of sorts in the summer, and the availability of the 29-year-old German international could prove handy.
Barcelona to Enter Julian Brandt Race?
Barcelona are set to enter the race for Brandt ahead of the summer, as the club could view his availability on a free as a significant boost to their transfer activity. The idea of signing the high-profile free agent for nothing would suit their finances, but more importantly, align with what Hansi Flick wants.
Flick views the 29-year-old German international as the right tactical fit for his team and ideas, as Brandt could be the high-profile rotational option the German coach desires. It remains to be seen whether the Catalans are serious about Brandt, who may closely consider all the offers ahead of deciding in the close season.
