Manchester City are keen to use their excellent relations with NYCFC to bring promising MLS teenager Jonathan Shore in the summer.
According to Fichajes, Jonathan Shore is a target for Manchester City ahead of the summer. The 18-year-old MLS sensation is seen as a big prospect by those at the English side, as they are hopeful of brokering a deal within the City Football Group circle to keep hold of the emerging talents within their ranks.
Manchester City are part of a select group of clubs manoeuvring through the multi-club model, and like the others, they have taken advantage of it. Chelsea have been revered for their use of sister club Strasbourg to help develop players and widen their transfer activity to new levels.
Manchester City are part of the City Football Group, which owns a variety of clubs around the world — probably the biggest chain in the multi-club model. They have recently made good use of the Spanish side Girona to help develop players, with the likes of Savinho and Sverre Nypan being part of such a plan.
Speaking of Nypan, he was recalled from his loan at Girona to become part of Pep Guardiola’s first team, and now they are planning to make another signing within the City Football Group. The said player is 18-year-old MLS sensation Jonathan Shore, who plays for US side New York City FC.
Shore has become a key part of the MLS side, garnering over 30 senior appearances despite only being 18 at the moment. The midfielder, who can also play other positions such as on the left wing, has shown plenty of promise — something Manchester City are keen to take advantage of as they look to develop his talents in close quarters.
Manchester City to Sign Jonathan Shore?
Manchester City are ready to accelerate their pursuit of the 18-year-old MLS sensation and are bidding to develop his talents in their own way. While he has been turning into quite a player with NYCFC, City are keen to bring him to England to shape his future.
A switch to Manchester City is obviously a big step for the teenager, and once agreed, he might be sent on loan to a club like Girona to gain first-team experience in Europe. For now, Manchester City may open talks with NYCFC over a potential deal, with any move expected to be completed smoothly.
