Real Madrid run rule over Sandro Tonali in FA Cup matches

Real Madrid scouted Newcastle United midfield mainstay Sandro Tonali in their FA Cup fixture against Manchester City.

Real Madrid have already started planning for the upcoming summer transfer window. The Spanish giants want to reinforce their midfield ahead of next season, and they seem to have their eyes set on Sandro Tonali.

According to Sebastien Vidal, Los Blancos are keen on his signature, and they recently scouted the Italian international in an FA Cup fixture. The Spanish club’s scouts were present in the stands at St James’ Park to watch Tonali in action against Manchester City.

Tonali made a name for himself at AC Milan, and on the back of his impressive performances, the Magpies forked out £55 million to add him to their squad in the summer of 2023. He has only gone from strength to strength since and has been one of their mainstays for the Tyneside club over the last few seasons.

In the ongoing campaign, the defensive midfielder has been involved in 45 matches and has even contributed towards 10 goals. While he remains one of the first names on their team sheet under Eddie Howe and will still have two years left on his deal in the summer, Real Madrid seem quite keen on prising him away.

Real Madrid want to sign Sandro Tonali

Los Blancos do have a star-studded midfield, but they still seek more quality as they have struggled to control the tempo of games in the ongoing campaign. They want a new defensive midfielder who can act as a deep-lying playmaker, and Tonali is considered an ideal fit.

The Spanish club had sent scouts to watch him in action against Manchester City. While the game didn’t go Newcastle’s way as they were outplayed by Pep Guardiola’s team, the presence of Madrid scouts in the stands suggests they are quite serious about their pursuit of the Italian midfielder.

Apart from Real Madrid, there are other top clubs that are keen on his signature. As a result, the Magpies might struggle to keep hold of him for long. While the Tyneside club will be reluctant to sell, interest from Los Blancos could certainly tempt Tonali.
