Daniel Farke’s Leeds United have reportedly revived their interest in AC Milan’s Mexican forward Santiago Gimenez.
While Leeds United’s priority is to ensure they survive the drop, they have already started planning for the summer to further bolster their squad. According to a report from Football Insider, the Yorkshire-based outfit seek more firepower, and they are set to revive their interest in Santiago Gimenez.
Gimenez made quite a name for himself while playing for Feyenoord. On the back of his impressive performances, a host of clubs were after his signature, but he ended up joining AC Milan at the start of 2025.
While the Italian giants had massive expectations from him, the 24-year-old is yet to live upto them. He has struggled with injuries and has yet to hit top gear at San Siro. Gimenez has been sidelined with an ankle injury since October.
He is closing in on a return and will be looking to prove his fitness between now and the end of the season as he eyes a spot in Mexico’s squad for the World Cup and a potential transfer away from Milan to get his club career back on track.
Leeds want to sign Gimenez this summer
Leeds United, who were keen on his signature during the winter window, are all set to reignite their interest in the 24-year-old striker. The Yorkshire-based outfit want to add another striker to their squad ahead of next season, and they feel the AC Milan star could be an ideal fit for their system as well as their project.
While he hasn’t really got going since moving to the Serie A, his track record from Feyenoord is what excites the English club. They believe the 24-year-old can turn things around and get back to his best. As a result, they are willing to invest in him.
Since the move hasn’t worked out, Milan could look to cash in on him for the right price despite the fact that his contract runs until 2029. While Leeds have revived their interest, they are not the only English club that are keen on his signature, and we could be in for an intense transfer battle.
