Marcus Rashford has made twin sacrifice to ensure Barcelona stay

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has made two big sacrifices to ensure he continues at Barcelona beyond this season.

Marcus Rashford has revived his career since joining Barcelona on loan from Manchester United last summer. The English international is keen on ensuring his move to the Catalan giants becomes permanent.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, the 28-year-old forward is on the verge of joining Barcelona on a permanent basis after having agreed personal terms with the Spanish giants. He has made two major sacrifices to ensure the move goes through.

Rashford’s revival at Barcelona

After falling out with Ruben Amorim and the Premier League club, the United graduate spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa before joining Barcelona last summer. The loan move to the La Liga outfit also includes a buy option worth €30 million.

Thanks to his impressive performances, the Catalan giants are now set to trigger the buy option. Since joining Hansi Flick’s team, he has been involved in a total of 35 matches. While he has been a rotational option and has racked up fewer than 2,000 minutes, the English international has had quite an impact with 23 goal contributions (10 goals, 13 assists).

Despite his impressive performances, he has no way back at United. The player is loving life at Barcelona and is keen on ensuring his move becomes permanent. Since the Catalan giants do not have the best of financial situations, securing his services permanently isn’t that straightforward.

However, their manager has been pushing for the move, and the player has made two sacrifices to get a deal over the line. Rashford has agreed personal terms in principle with the club. But nothing has been signed just yet, as the move can’t go through until Barcelona’s presidential elections are done and dusted.

Joan Laporta is expected to be re-elected, and their sporting director, Deco, has been in talks with Rashford’s camp. The player is keen on staying, and people at Camp Nou are delighted with his performances and would love to have him around.

Not only has he agreed to significantly reduce his wages, but the 28-year-old is also set to forego some bonuses. He has made two important sacrifices to ensure he stays at the Spanish club. While his contract at Old Trafford runs until 2028, both clubs already have an agreement in place regarding a €30 million transfer, with the amount to be paid in three instalments of €10 million.

While the Red Devils were worried that Barcelona would seek another loan move, the player wasn’t keen on that; as a result, the Catalan giants have decided to go ahead with the move. With all parties aligned, his move to Camp Nou is expected to be made permanent once the presidential election is done and dusted.
