Tottenham are one of the teams interested in signing Federico Gatti, alongside two Serie A giants, with the Italian defender expected to leave Juventus.
According to AS Roma Live, Federico Gatti is a target for at least three clubs ahead of the summer, including Tottenham. The North London side are vying for the Italian defender if they were to keep hold of Igor Tudor for longer, with AC Milan and AS Roma also in the race for the Juventus man.
Federico Gatti could leave Juventus in the summer, as per the report, which has alerted some interested clubs. The Bianconeri are set to play AS Roma this weekend, and the defender is a talking point ahead of the game owing to the latter’s interest in him.
AS Roma are one of those interested in signing him and could approach him in the summer. The other Serie A side are AC Milan, who are looking to add a new defender in the summer, as Massimiliano Allegri knows Gatti well from their time together at Juventus. In fact, the 27-year-old Italian centre-back has played most of his career games under Allegri.
Another manager under whom Federico Gatti played, albeit only 16 times, was Igor Tudor, who is currently in charge at Tottenham. The North Londoners are interested in the 27-year-old Italian centre-back ahead of the summer as they continue to make plans to improve their backline in the close season.
The report states that Spurs’ interest in Gatti might be contingent on Tudor staying beyond his interim role at the club. There is no clarity on whether the Croat will be offered a new deal to become their permanent manager, although there is a possibility if he manages to help Tottenham avoid relegation.
Tottenham in the market for defenders?
Tottenham are set to enter the transfer market for new defenders, with the club already looking at replacements for Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, as per recent reports. Given the club’s current state, there are chances the influential duo could look for new clubs, which could force Spurs into the market for replacements.
Edmond Tapsoba is another name on their list, while there are others in the mix if Tottenham were to survive their relegation battle. At the moment, their plans will be on hold, but could accelerate once the season ends. That will also clarify the situation with Tudor and then subsequently allow them to plan further steps, including the pursuit of Federico Gatti.
