European giants Real Madrid have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Liverpool attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz.
While it has not been long since Florian Wirtz joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen in a big-money move, there are already talks about the German international switching clubs again. According to a report from Fichajes, Wirtz has been offered to Real Madrid by his agent, Volker Struth.
The player’s representative is working very hard to ensure the 22-year-old ends up at the Spanish club sooner rather than later. Struth even revealed that he tried to secure a move to Los Blancos for his client last summer before joining Liverpool.
Wirtz joined Bayer Leverkusen’s youth setup at the start of 2020, and in just six months, he was promoted to their first team. He came the fourth youngest to debut in the Bundesliga at 17 years and 15 days and enjoyed a successful five-year-long stint at the club before moving to England.
The Merseyside club forked out a massive €125 million to sign the 22-year-old. While he is yet to hit top gear at the Premier League club, the 22-year-old has had a decent start and has six goals and eight assists in his 35 outings to show for it.
Florian Wirtz was offered to Real Madrid last summer
While the youngster’s contract at Liverpool runs until the summer of 2030, his agent Struth has sparked rumours about his future following his recent comments. He wants to take his client to Real Madrid, after having failed to reunite him with Xabi Alonso at the Spanish club last summer.
Florian Wirtz failed to convince Florentino Perez last time out. However, he still dreams of making it happen in the near future. While the agent personally conveyed the proposal to Los Blancos last summer, the team in white opted to strengthen other positions.
Playing for Real Madrid remains a dream
Real Madrid might not have gone ahead with the move back then, but the door is not completely closed, and Struth continues to dream about seeing his client play for the European giants. Since Florian Wirtz was ready to make the jump from Bayer Leverkusen, they considered Liverpool the ideal next step in his career.
The Reds paid a record-breaking fee to convince Leverkusen to sanction the departure of their biggest talent. While he did struggle at the start, the 22-year-old is slowly improving with every performance, and the Reds hope he will become an integral part of their project.
The Greman international remains committed to Liverpool in the short term. However, his long-term desire is to play for the Spanish giants, and his agent has openly expressed it. The ball is now in Real Madrid’s court, and it will be interesting to see if and when they make a move.
