Manchester City are in advanced talks to sign Nottingham Forest midfield mainstay Morgan Gibbs-White this summer.
While Nottingham Forest are not having the best seasons and are all set for an intense relegation battle, Morgan Gibbs-White has once again emerged as a standout performer for them. His performances have once again placed him on the wishlist of some of the biggest clubs in the country.
According to a report from Fichajes, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are keen on acquiring his services and are in advanced talks to bring the English international to the club ahead of next season. With him set to enter his peak years, City are ready to break the bank for his signature.
After making a name for himself while playing for Wolves, Gibbs-White made the move to Nottingham in the summer of 2022, and he hasn’t looked back since. The 26-year-old has established himself as one of the best attacking midfielders in the English top flight.
While his contract with the Tricky Trees runs until the summer of 2028, Gibbs-White looks set to take the next step in his career. With Nottingham fighting for survival, his departure in the summer looks very likely.
City are plotting a raid on Nottingham
Manchester City are the leading contenders for his signature. Pep Guardiola is always on the lookout for players who can further bolster their squad, and the English international is seen as a perfect fit for his system. His ability to link up with his teammates, create chances and score goals makes him an interesting option for the Premier League giants.
More importantly, he can feature as a number ten, a central midfielder, as well as out wide on the flanks. His versatility will give Guardiola greater tactical flexibility. City are very keen on his signature, and they are already in advanced talks with Nottingham over a potential transfer.
The figure discussed between the two clubs is believed to be around €80 million. While he certainly seems to be a player worth that big a fee, Nottingham’s financial demands could change depending on how the relegation battle pans out.
