Liverpool are set to facilitate Andrew Robertson’s exit, with Aston Villa and Crystal Palace among the five clubs chasing the experienced defender.
According to Caught Offside, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa are among five clubs vying for Andrew Robertson’s signature. Liverpool are set to facilitate an exit for their experienced defender after deciding to keep hold of him amid Tottenham’s interest in January.
Andrew Robertson is part of a small group of players who represent the golden period of Liverpool under Jürgen Klopp. That group, in which the Scottish international played a huge role, were instrumental in Premier League and Champions League wins, as well as regularly competing for major honours every season.
However, the time might have come for Robertson to say goodbye to the Anfield crowd, as he was close to leaving the club last summer as well as in January. Tottenham saw their efforts thwarted by Liverpool, who chose to keep hold of the experienced defender following fresh injury concerns in the squad.
Robertson was reportedly open to joining Tottenham at the time, but Spurs were unable to agree on a deal. Things have not changed from a sporting perspective for Robertson, as he is on the bench behind first-choice Milos Kerkez. The Scottish international has entered the final few months of his deal, which could see him depart on a free transfer in the summer.
Liverpool reportedly contemplated a new contract, but it appears Robertson might depart, with the club likely to facilitate an exit. There are a host of teams vying for his signature, including Celtic in Scotland as well as Atlético Madrid, as per the report. There are five teams in total interested in the Liverpool wide man.
Robertson’s next destination?
As it stands, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa are among the five teams keen to sign Robertson on a free transfer. Wolves are also in the running, but given they are expected to be relegated, they are unlikely to be a choice for the Liverpool wide man.
Aston Villa and Crystal Palace are viable options for Robertson, alongside Atlético Madrid, especially if he is considering staying in the Premier League. However, Celtic could also offer a big appeal to the Liverpool defender, and he will have plenty of choice ahead of the summer.
