Newcastle United unwilling to sell Valentino Livramento this summer

Manchester City have suffered a massive blow in their pursuit of Newcastle United defensive sensation Valentino Livramento.

Manchester City might have a star-studded squad, but they are still constantly on the lookout for players who could further bolster their squad. Pep Guardiola’s team are currently in the market for a new right-sided full-back, as they are yet to successfully replace Kyle Walker. City consider Newcastle’s Valentino Livramento an ideal fit for their system and their long-term plans.

As a result, they are keen on prising him away from their rivals. However, they have suffered a blow in their pursuit. According to Pete O’Rourke via Football Insider, the Magpies have no intentions of selling the English international this summer.

Valentino Livramento came up the ranks at Chelsea. While the Englishman had an impressive rise, he left Stamford Bridge back in 2021 in search of regular first-team football. After making a name for himself while playing for Southampton, the 23-year-old made the move to Newcastle in the summer of 2023, and he has not looked back since.

The youngster’s consistent performances have helped him break into the English national team. He has already featured in 99 matches for the Tyneside club. Livramento’s ability to feature on either flank and the maturity he has shown have resulted in a lot of interest from across Europe.

Rivals Manchester City have emerged as the biggest admirers of the young full-back. While Matheus Nunes has done a decent job at right-back, and they also have Rico Lewis in their squad, Guardiola wants more quality. The Newcastle United full-back is one of the best young players in that position, and City are keen on his signature.

Pete O’Rourke on Valentino Livramento’s future

However, they will struggle to strike a deal for his services as suggested by O’Rourke. While speaking about his future, the transfer expert said, “Newcastle don’t want to lose him, there’s no doubt about that, they want to keep hold of Livramento.

“There have been ongoing talks over a new deal, but nothing is agreed as yet, so that would maybe give Man City a bit of hope that they maybe could be lured away. It would take a huge offer I think for Newcastle to even consider selling him. He’s under contract until 2028, so they’re in no rush to sell Livramento. Eddie Howe wants to keep hold of Livramento and build his team around him, because he is such an exciting player and someone with huge potential.”

A new deal for Livramento at Newcastle United?

Valentino Livramento’s current deal runs until 2028; as a result, the Magpies are in no rush to negotiate his departure. Eddie Howe wants to build a team around him, and they will only consider selling him for an outrageous amount. For now, they continue to work on a new deal to secure his long-term future.

The Tyneside club rate him very highly, and they are ready to make the 23-year-old one of their highest-paid players to ensure he continues at the club. Since a new deal has not been agreed yet, City feel they can try to lure. However, Newcastle United’s stance on his future is quite clear; they do not intend to negotiate his future in the summer.
