Liverpool ahead of Arsenal, Manchester United in Mateus Mane race

Liverpool are leading the race to sign Arsenal and Manchester United midfield target Mateus Mane from relegation-threatened Wolves.

While Wolves are struggling in the Premier League and survival looks very unlikely, Mateus Mane has certainly made quite a name for himself with his impressive performances. He is attracting strong interest from the biggest clubs in the country.

Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United are all interested in the teenage attacking midfielder, and according to a report from Caught Offside, the Reds are the front-runners to sign the English youth international ahead of next season.

Mateus Mane joined the Wolves setup at the start of 2024 and has only gone from strength to strength since. The teenage prospect was officially promoted to their first team last summer, and he has made a total of 19 first-team appearances so far.

While he did not start any of their first ten league outings, the 18-year-old has forced his way into their starting XI. He has featured in 16 league games and has contributed towards four goals. He has started in each of their last ten league games.

The teenager prefers playing as a number ten, but he is comfortable enough to feature in a deeper role as well as out wide on the flanks. Despite his efforts, Wolves’ survival is very unlikely, and with the club set to get relegated, multiple top clubs are ready to make the most out of it and prise Mane away.

While Mateus Mane’s contract at Wolves runs until the summer of 2029, relegation to the Championship would almost guarantee his departure. Manchester United and Arsenal are two clubs that are closely monitoring the teenager ahead of a potential transfer.

Liverpool are front-runners to sign Mane

Both clubs would love to have Mateus Mane in their ranks for the long run. However, the report suggests Liverpool are the ones leading the race for his signature. The Reds have done some early work on a potential transfer.

The Reds have held talks with his representatives, and those discussions have been quite positive. The Merseyside club are fully prepared to make an offer for the 18-year-old this summer. Wolves currently value him at the £50 million mark; if they do stand firm on that, signing him won’t be that easy. However, a potential relegation will certainly bring about a change in the asking price.
