Inter Milan hesitant to pay €25-30 million to sign Guglielmo Vicario

Tottenham Hotspur’s asking price of €25-30 million for 29-year-old Italian international Guglielmo Vicario has created a stumbling block for Inter Milan.

According to a report by Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, Guglielmo Vicario is the subject of interest from Inter Milan. The Serie A heavyweights are eager to reinforce their first-team squad by signing a goalkeeper in the summer transfer window. So, the 29-year-old Tottenham Hotspur shot-stopper has emerged as a target for the Nerazzurri.

The latest report has revealed that the North London club will demand around €25-30 million to part ways with the Udine native in the summer transfer window. However, while Vicario is eager to return to Serie A in the coming months, a deal may not be straightforward due to Inter’s reluctance to pay €25-30 million to secure his services.

How has Guglielmo Vicario fared at Tottenham?

Guglielmo Vicario has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Tottenham Hotspur from FC Empoli in a deal worth €20 million in July 2023. While the 29-year-old has been solid for the most part over the last two and a half years, he has also been highly error-prone during his spell with the North London outfit.

The Italian international has made over 100 appearances for Tottenham thus far, keeping 29 clean sheets and conceding 153 goals. However, Vicario’s long-term future at the North London club is uncertain heading into the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, the player’s stock remains high, with Inter Milan among the prospective suitors vying for his signature.

Serie A return on the cards?

Inter Milan’s interest in Guglielmo Vicario makes sense. The Serie A giants are scouring the market for a goalkeeper, as Yann Sommer is in the twilight of his career. Additionally, the Swiss international may leave the Nerazzurri after the 2025/26 season ends, as he has entered the final six months of his contract.

With Josep Martinez yet to make a case for becoming the next first-choice goalkeeper for Inter Milan, the Serie A club must sign a new first-choice goalkeeper in the summer transfer window. Vicario has thus emerged as a viable target, with the latest report revealing Tottenham’s likely asking price and Inter Milan’s stance on meeting that valuation.

The North London club will demand around €25-30 million to part ways with the 29-year-old Italian international. However, while Vicario is ready to leave Tottenham later this year, Inter Milan will be reluctant to meet Tottenham’s valuation and pay €25-30 million to sign the former Empoli stopper in the summer transfer window.
