Bayern Munich and PSG have received a massive boost in their pursuit of Manchester United skipper Bruno Fernandes.
Manchester United seem to have some big plans for the next summer transfer window. The Red Devils will look to revamp their midfield ahead of next season, and according to a report from CaughtOffside, they could end up cashing in on their skipper, Bruno Fernandes, in the process.
It is a massive boost for clubs like Bayern Munich and PSG, who are very keen on signing the Portuguese international. While clubs in the Middle East also want to secure his services, Fernandes doesn’t seem too keen on leaving Europe this early in his career.
Fernandes made a name for himself while playing for Sporting CP before making the move to Manchester United at the start of 2020. He has only gone from strength to strength since and has been one of their mainstays over the years.
The 31-year-old has been involved in a total of 315 matches. He has bagged 104 goals and 99 assists so far. The United skipper has been their standout performer for years. In the ongoing campaign, he has 19 goal contributions in his 25 outings.
United to cash in on Fernandes?
While he remains a very important part of their setup and his contract runs until the summer of 2027, his future has often been a big talking point. Since he will only have a year left on his deal in the summer, United see this as the perfect time to cash in on him amidst interest from PSG and Bayern.
They are aware that selling one of their best players could be a risky move, but there’s some internal recognition that they might not have any other option given his contract situation, his massive wages and the fact that he is not getting any younger.
Ideally, United would want around £87 million for the 31-year-old, but it will be interesting to see if an interested club is willing to meet their demands. Bayern and PSG are massive admirers of the Portuguese attacking midfield. Both clubs are ready to make him an integral part of their project.
If they do step up their interest in his services, Fernandes will finally have the opportunity to push for all major titles and add some silverware to his collection after a very dry spell at Old Trafford amidst the club’s struggles.
