Liverpool working to sign Yan Diomande

Liverpool have started making moves to sign RB Leipzig attacking sensation Yan Diomande to replace Mohamed Salah.

According to SportBILD via SportWitness, Liverpool are working on a deal to sign Yan Diomande ahead of next season. The Reds are intensively scouting the youngster ahead of a potential transfer, as they consider him an ideal replacement for Mohamed Salah.

Diomande made a name for himself while playing for Leganes. His impressive rise caught the attention of RB Leipzig, who secured his services last summer in a deal worth €20 million. The 19-year-old winger has hardly taken any time to adjust to his new surroundings.

The Ivorian international has been involved in 22 matches in all competitions and has contributed towards 14 goals. The teenager’s impressive performances haven’t gone unnoticed. Clubs from all across Europe have taken note of his talent, and quite a few of them have been scouting him for months.

Liverpool want Diomande

Liverpool are one of the clubs that are keeping tabs on him. They are believed to be the most serious suitors for him at this point. They are not just tracking his progress; the Reds are undertaking intensive scouting and discussions as they consider bringing him to Anfield.

With Mohamed Salah’s future uncertain, the Merseyside club consider him an ideal long-term replacement. While he prefers playing on the left, he is equally effective on the right. Given his massive potential, he could do wonders for the Reds in the long run.

RB Leipzig could sell the teenager

Ideally, RB Leipzig won’t want to part ways with such an incredible talent this early, but they might struggle to hold onto him beyond this season. If they fail to qualify for the Champions League for a second straight season, it could have massive financial consequences.

The club’s entire budget depends on it. With UCL football, Leipzig need to generate €100 million, but if they fail, they need to generate double that amount. As a result, failure to qualify will force them to sell their best players, and Diomande will be at the top of that list.

Even if they do secure a top-four finish, there are still doubts if they will manage to keep him at the club, as there is a belief that an offer of around €100 million will be enough to get a deal over the line. It remains to be seen if Liverpool are willing to pay that big a fee.
