Barcelona boss Hansi Flick wants Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford to continue at Camp Nou beyond this season.
The winter transfer window has just slammed shut, and clubs are now completely focused on doing their best in the second half of the season. While Barcelona also have their eyes set on major silverware, the club have already started planning for next season.
Apart from planning about potential transfers, they need to make a strategic decision regarding the future of Marcus Rashford, who is on loan from Manchester United. According to a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes, Hansi Flick has urged the Catalan giants to sign the English international on a permanent basis.
Rashford’s time at Barcelona
Marcus Rashford might not be a regular starter under Flick, but he has certainly established himself as an integral part of the German manager’s setup. Given the kind of impact he has had in a limited time, Flick is pushing for the move to be made permanent.
After falling out of favour at Old Trafford, Rashford had a short loan stint at Aston Villa before joining Barcelona ahead of the ongoing campaign. During his time in Spain, he has been involved in a total of 33 matches and has contributed towards 23 goals (10 goals, 13 assists) in just over 1,900 minutes.
People at the Catalan club believe that Marcus Rashford’s efficiency could improve if he continues under Flick. Since the Englishman is in his prime, the German tactician does not want to miss out on the opportunity to sign a world-class forward at a bargain price.

Since Rashford was no longer a part of Manchester United’s plans, they agreed to a modest buy clause in the English attacker’s loan deal. The Catalan giants can make the move permanent for just €35 million.
Given the kind of impact the Englishman has had and the fact that he can feature in a number of positions in the final third, Flick is determined to have him in his roster for next season as well. While Barcelona initially saw this as a low-risk option to bolster their attack for the season, Rashford has grown in prominence with every passing week.
As a result, the Catalan giants look very keen on triggering the clause in the near future. Flick has already conveyed his stance on Rashford directly to Joan Laporta. The German manager is optimistic that a full pre-season with him could unlock the English forward’s true potential.
