Oliver Glasner’s Crystal Palace have reportedly pulled out of the race to sign 24-year-old Fenerbahce defensive mainstay Jayden Oosterwolde.
Crystal Palace are in the market for a new centre-back, but they have not found one just yet. The time is ticking and they need to make things happen quickly. While the Eagles were looking to land Fenerbahce’s Jayden Oosterwolde this month, they have decided against it according to Standard Sport journalist Sam Tabuteau.
Oliver Glasner’s team are not expected to proceed with negotiations to sign the 24-year-old before the deadline. He is likely to continue at the Turkish club until the end of the season. A summer move to the Premier League looks very likley, amidst interest from the biggest clubs in England.
Jayden Oosterwolde has only gone from strength to strength since joining the Super Lig outfit from Parma at the start of 2023. The Dutchman has been involved in a total of 93 matches for them, and he has even contributed towards four goals.
Oosterwolde remains an integral part of Fenerbahce’s first-team, and his contract there runs until the summer of 2028. However, his future has been a massive talking point because his work hasn’t gone unnoticed. Thanks to his performances, the biggest clubs in England are after him.
Crystal Palace pull out of the race
Crystal Palace are one of the clubs that want to sign the 24-year-old from Fenerbahce. Having sold former skipper Marc Guehi midway through the 2025/26 season to Manchester City, the Eagles are desperate to bring in a new centre-back before the end of the window.
While the South London outfit were making moves to sign Jayden Oosterwolde, they have decided against it. Crystal Palace will no longer pursue his signature in this window, and it might have a lot to do with Fenerbahce’s reluctance to sell the versatiler Dutch defender and the high cost of the operation.
Crystal Palace have pulled out of the race, and they have shifted their focus towards other targets. Meanwhile, the Dutchman remains on the wishlist of multiple top clubs from across Europe, and a summer move away from Turkiye looks very likely.
