AC Milan have an agreement in principle for Jean-Philippe Mateta over a winter move, but have been made to wait as Crystal Palace seek a replacement.
According to Ben Jacobs, AC Milan and Crystal Palace may have an agreement in principle for the transfer of Jean-Philippe Mateta, but the Eagles are seeking a replacement first. The Rossoneri are made to wait for the Frenchman as things stand, as Palace are eager to bring in another attacker after the capture of Evann Guessand.
Jean-Philippe Mateta could be on the move before the January transfer window shuts down on Monday, as AC Milan are the current favourites to sign the Crystal Palace striker. Having already expressed his desire in the background over a move away from Selhurst Park, an exit may not seem straightforward.
Mateta has set his heart on a move to AC Milan, following the interest from many other clubs since the winter transfer window opened. The attacker was the subject of interest from Juventus, while Nottingham Forest did make a bid, which seemingly fell short of Palace’s valuation of the 28-year-old star.
However, it is AC Milan who are now close to finding a solution for the striker, as they may have an agreement in principle with Crystal Palace. Jean-Philippe Mateta might pack his bags, but Palace are seeking a new striker as a replacement for Mateta before letting him leave.
AC Milan are waiting to complete this move for the 28-year-old Crystal Palace star, and they will certainly hope the Eagles find their replacement. A few names are being discussed in the market, but it remains to be seen whether they are successful in the end or does this story turns into something similar to the Marc Guehi saga last summer.
Is Evann Guessand the Mateta replacement?
Crystal Palace have signed Evann Guessand on loan from Aston Villa, with the Frenchman earlier seen as a direct replacement for Mateta. However, that is not the case, as Ben Jacobs states, with the Eagles now focused on getting another player for Mateta to leave.
A move for Jorgen Strand Larsen stalled despite an agreement in place between Crystal Palace and Wolves. However, the latest updates have revealed that the Norwegian international is on the cusp of joining the South London club before the window ends, and his arrival could pave the way for Jean-Philippe Mateta to join AC Milan.
