Turkish giants Besiktas are keen on acquiring the services of Liverpool full-back Kostas Tsimikas; talks are already underway.
Kostas Tsimikas, who is currently on loan at AS Roma from Liverpool, could be on the move once again. There is serious interest in his services from Turkiye. According to Efecan Oztas, Besiktas are plotting a raid on the Merseyside club to sign the Greek international.
The 29-year-old full-back made a name for himself at Olympiacos before joining Liverpool in the summer of 2020. While he never really became a regular starter, Tsimikas certainly had an important role in their team. He made 115 appearances and even contributed towards 18 goals before leaving the club on loan last summer.
Following the arrival of Milos Kerkez in the summer, Tsimikas was unlikely to get much game time under Arne Slot. As a result, he ended up joining AS Roma for the 2025/26 season.
Unfortunately, the loan move to Italy hasn’t worked out for him. He has been involved in 16 matches and has racked up just 672 minutes of first-team action. The lack of game time has frustrated the Greek international, and he is already considering his future amidst interest from Besiktas. Roma have reportedly approved his return to Anfield mid-season.
Besiktas in talks to sign Tsimikas
The Turkish giants are ready to offer him an escape route. They want to bolster the left-back position and believe Tsimikas can become an integral part of their setup. They are in talks to secure his services on an initial loan deal.
While they remain in talks over a loan deal, they are also gathering information from Liverpool regarding the cost of a permanent transfer. Meanwhile, talks with the players’ camp are also underway. As things stand, there is a high possibility of something concrete developing in the final stage of the winter window.
The Turkish giants would absolutely love to have someone with his amount of experience. More importantly, his ability to feature as a full-back as well as a wing-back could also come in handy. He could end up playing the role of a leader in that dressing room.
