Leeds United are unlikely to sell Joel Piroe this month amid interest from Celtic and Rangers, as well as his limited minutes under Daniel Farke.
According to Football Insider, Joel Piroe is not for sale as far as Leeds United are concerned, with Daniel Farke eager to keep all hands on deck in their bid to avoid relegation. The 26-year-old attacker has not had many minutes this season, as Rangers and Celtic are interested in the attacker.
Joel Piroe was Leeds United’s star attacker last season as they made their way back to the Premier League. The 26-year-old attacker scored 19 goals and won the Championship Golden Boot. However, he has found game time difficult to come by in the top division.
Leeds United did not rest on their laurels and placed all their bets on Piroe to replicate his goalscoring season in the Championship onto the top flight. They recruited new strikers like Lukas Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, both on free transfers, as the duo are ahead in the pecking order at the moment over Piroe.
There have been reports stating Joel Piroe has already rejected a return to the Championship amid heavy interest from clubs there. Whether he is happy with his situation at Elland Road remains to be seen, although Daniel Farke is not interested in letting him leave this month.
It appears, Farke wants all hands on deck, even from those spending massive time on the bench, as the manager does not want to weaken any position in his squad. Hence, Leeds United are not interested in selling Piroe amid interest from Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers.
Will Joel Piroe still leave Leeds United?
The report states that due to Leeds United’s shared ownership with Rangers, they may not allow Joel Piroe to join Celtic if they were open to letting the striker leave. However, that does put Rangers in the driving seat if the 26-year-old attacker is made available in the final days of the window.
Leeds United have reportedly failed with a bid for Jorgen Strand Larsen, which may indicate Farke wants a new forward this month. Hence, should the Wolves man arrive, it could potentially pave the way for the club to consider selling Piroe, with Rangers and even Celtic likely to make their case in the chase.
