West Ham United are in a tussle for Colombian Winger Yaser Asprilla, with Girona ready to offload the ineffective winger this month.
According to Fichajes, West Ham United are plotting a move for Yaser Asprilla this month as they continue the search for a right winger. The Hammers are keeping close tabs on the Colombian attacker’s situation, with Girona ready to offload him, as the Londoners are keen to take him on loan for the remainder of the season.
Yaser Asprilla caught the eye with some attractive performances for Watford in the Championship. Despite being linked with several Premier League sides back then, the Colombian winger accepted an offer from Girona under the umbrella of the City Football Group.
His 18 months in Spain have not flourished as planned, with the winger barely showing any effectiveness at Firona. This season, he only has one assist to show for his cause at the resurgent La Liga club, with City Football Group now open to the idea of a departure.
West Ham are the latest team to show an interest, although there’s reported competition from the likes of Ajax, Celtic and Marseille. Girona reportedly values the player at €35 million, although no club will be eager to pay as much as the more realistic fee for the attacker could be in the €12 million region, which is his current market value.
Girona could demand more, given they invested €18 million to sign him from Watford back in 2024, as a fee over that might also seem slightly acceptable. The €35 million-rated attacker does have a solid upside in the future should one of the suitors develop him in the right way. West Ham are interested, as they are keen to take him on loan for the remainder of the season, although there’s the possibility of including a buy option.
West Ham seeking a new right winger?
Asprilla is only the latest name to be linked with a move to West Ham, who recently offloaded young winger Luis Guilherme to Sporting CP. The Hammers are being linked with a host of names, including Flamengo mainstay Gonzalo Plata and young Real Betis star Pablo Garcia, as well as Fulham’s Adama Traore.
They also saw an approach turned down by Arsenal for Ethan Nwaneri, who has since signed for Marseille on loan for the remainder of the season. As for West Ham, they could now angle a loan move for Asprillia before the window shuts, and could include a buy option if they manage to stay up in the Premier League at the end of the season.
