Relegation-threatened La Liga club Valencia will reportedly look to sign 29-year-old Malian midfielder Yves Bissouma from Tottenham Hotspur in the winter transfer window.
According to an update by Spanish journalist German Munoz, Yves Bissouma is the subject of interest from Valencia. Los Che will attempt to bolster the first-team squad by signing a holding midfielder in the winter transfer window. So, the 29-year-old Tottenham Hotspur outcast has emerged as a target for the relegation-threatened La Liga club.
The African midfielder has been a target for Valencia since the summer transfer window. However, a January deal for the out-of-favour Tottenham midfielder will not be straightforward. That has compelled Los Che to consider alternatives, with Guido Rodriguez and Aliou Dieng also on the Spanish club’s wishlist.
Yves Bissouma and his situation
Yves Bissouma has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Tottenham Hotspur from Brighton & Hove Albion in a deal worth £25 million in July 2022. While the 29-year-old midfielder has shown flashes of brilliance during his stint with the North London club, he has no future at the North London club after rubbing Thomas Frank the wrong way due to his attitude.
The Malian international has made 100 appearances thus far for Tottenham while chipping in with one goal. However, Bissouma has no future at the North London club, and the situation has piqued the attention of several well-known clubs. Valencia will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the winter transfer window.
La Liga adventure on the horizon?
Valencia’s interest in Yves Bissouma is understandable. Los Che will be busy in the final days of the winter transfer window, as they want to bolster their first-team squad by making several signings as they aim to stave off relegation from La Liga in the second half of the 2025/26 season.
Several targets have thus emerged on Valencia’s wishlist, and they are particularly eager to bolster their midfield unit. Bissouma is the top target for the relegation-threatened La Liga club. However, while Tottenham will attempt to offload the former Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder in the winter transfer window, a move to Valencia will not be straightforward.
That has compelled Los Che to identify alternatives to the 29-year-old Malian midfielder, with Guido Rodriguez and Aliou Dieng also emerging as targets. It will be interesting to see if Bissouma resurrects his stuttering career by joining Valencia in the coming days.
