Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, and West Ham United are reportedly keen on signing 26-year-old Canadian international Jonathan David from Juventus.
According to a report by Sports Boom, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, and West Ham United are interested in Jonathan David. The three Premier League clubs are scouring the market for a striker and have set their sights on the Juventus centre-forward. However, a deal is not straightforward, as the Serie A giants are unwilling to cash in on the 26-year-old in the winter transfer window.
How has Jonathan David fared at Juventus?
Jonathan David has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Juventus from LOSC Lille in a Bosman move last summer. The 26-year-old arrived at the Allianz Stadium after being one of the best players in Ligue 1. However, he struggled to make his mark after scoring on his Serie A debut against Parma.
The Canadian international has managed only five goals and three assists in 26 outings across all competitions thus far in the 2025/26 season. However, with David rediscovering his form, his stock has soared again. Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, and West Ham United are among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the winter transfer window.
A man in demand
It is unclear why Newcastle United will aim to sign a striker in the winter transfer window. Yoane Wissa has been excellent since returning from a long-term knee injury, while Nick Woltemade has been solid in the first half of the 2025/26 season. So, it is unclear how David fits into the scheme of things at the Tyneside club.
Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur wanted to sign Jonathan David in the summer transfer window, but a deal did not materialise. The continued interest makes sense, as Dominic Solanke has struggled to make his mark since arriving from Bournemouth last year. Additionally, Richarlison faces an uncertain future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, while it is unclear if Randal Kolo Muani will complete a permanent move after the 2025/26 season ends.
As for West Ham United, it is unclear why David is a target for the winter transfer window. The Hammers have already signed Valentin Castellanos and Pablo this month, and they need to bolster other areas of their first-team squad. Additionally, it will be surprising if the Juventus striker wants to join West Ham in the middle of a relegation dogfight.
Meanwhile, Juventus will not entertain any offers for the 26-year-old Canadian international amid his resurgent run. While the Serie A giants are keen on signing Jean-Philippe Mateta, David will not leave to make room for the French striker. However, Tottenham and Newcastle United are ready to test the Italian club’s resolve by submitting enquiries in the coming week.
