Manchester United preparing €100 million offer for Pablo Barrios

Manchester United are reportedly preparing a €100 million offer to test Atletico Madrid on key midfielder Pablo Barrios.

According to Fichajes, Pablo Barrios has emerged as a big target for Manchester United this month. The Premier League giants are willing to put forward a mammoth €100 million offer to test Atletico Madrid’s resolve on the 22-year-old La Liga midfielder, as the Red Devils are ready to revamp the key position on the pitch.

Manchester United are undergoing a lot of changes, namely in the managerial department, as the main focus ahead of next summer would lean towards finding a new full-time boss. Michael Carrick is set to oversee proceedings until the end of the season on an interim basis, with the club looking at some high-profile names.

The other aspect of their plans leans towards drastically improving the squad, especially the midfield area. Manchester United had been angling for a top-draw midfielder for the long-term future since last summer, as they were interested in Carlos Baleba, who did not leave Brighton at the end of the window.

Manchester United have since added several other high-profile names to the list, including the likes of Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton and the aforementioned Baleba. They remain interested in the latter as a big option, considering Brighton are demanding a nine-figure sum to let the midfielder leave.

A new name has emerged on their list, with Atletico Madrid’s Pablo Barrios the latest target under consideration. Manchester United are ready to fork out €100 million to test the Spanish giants’ resolve on the 22-year-old La Liga midfielder, as a tempting offer could ensue key discussions behind the scenes.

Manchester United to make a midfield signing this month?

Barrios has already showcased his excellence in the key midfield role over the last couple of seasons under Diego Simeone. The Argentine coach considers him a key part of the team, and is aware of the big interest from Premier League sides, as Manchester United are part of the chasing pack now.

The Red Devils’ insistence on paying as much as €100 million showcases their belief that the 22-year-old La Liga midfielder will shine in the present and future. While the offer may sound tempting, it remains to be seen whether they are willing to part ways with the Spanish international, given that they have already sold Conor Gallagher to Tottenham earlier this month.
