Crystal Palace table bid to sign Sidiki Cherif, personal terms agreed

Crystal Palace will hope to sign 19-year-old French striker Sidiki Cherif from Angers SCO in the winter transfer window after offering €20 million to the Ligue 1 club.

According to an update by reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Sidiki Cherif is the subject of interest from Crystal Palace. The Eagles are eager to bolster their offensive unit by signing a striker in the winter transfer window. So, the 19-year-old Angers SCO centre-forward has emerged as a target for the South London outfit.

The 2024/25 FA Cup winners have submitted a bid worth €20 million, including add-ons, to the Ligue 1 club. Meanwhile, the Frenchman is keen on joining Crystal Palace, with the two parties already striking an agreement on personal terms. However, it is unclear if the Premier League club’s proposal will be enough to seal the deal.

Who is Sidiki Cherif?

Sidiki Cherif has established himself as one of the best young prospects in Ligue 1 since breaking into the first-team squad at Angers SCO. A native of Conakry in Guinea, the 19-year-old has spent his formative years thus far in France, passing through the academies at AS Bayard-Saumur and Olympique Saumur before graduating from the youth division at Angers SCO.

The French attacking sensation has already made 34 appearances for Angers SCO while chipping in with four goals. Meanwhile, Cherif’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs. Crystal Palace will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the winter transfer window.

London calling?

Crystal Palace’s interest in Sidiki Cherif makes sense. While Oliver Glasner has two strikers in his squad, the Eagles are sweating over Jean-Philippe Mateta’s long-term future. The Crystal Palace striker has emerged as a target for several high-profile clubs, including Juventus, and a January move to the Allianz Stadium may be on the cards.

So, Crystal Palace must plan for life after Mateta, and Cherif has emerged as a viable target for the South London outfit. The 2024/25 FA Cup winners have intensified their efforts to sign the 19-year-old Frenchman by submitting a bid worth €20 million, including add-ons, to Angers.

Meanwhile, personal terms will not be an issue for Crystal Palace, as the young striker is keen on joining the Premier League club. It will be interesting to see if Crystal Palace’s bid of €20 million is enough to convince Angers SCO to part ways with the French attacking sensation this month.
